This is the art of illusion ( BETRAYING THE EYES ). Started at the cave age and re-created in Rome and Egypt to give the impression of a open or large space using decorative paintings on walls reproducing: fake doors, arches, windows, balconies, designs representing wars, open sky ceilings etc. France and Italy ( Vatican: Fresco and France: Tromp ) gave to this kind of decorative art a new meaning. It was a symbol of power and wealth.
It was at that time and it is until today!
More affordable but eternally a symbol
of beauty, good taste and power.
Scenic Art, in the way we know today started in Italy, Greece, and France. At the time, sculpwith Patinas ( Faux ), Murals, Frescos and Tromp l'oil scenic artists, like me, can give Theme Parks, tures were used to represent natural elements. Today using this very special art along Movie productions, Theater, TV, and many others almost unlimited options of artificial reality ( optical illusion ). That means, fake water, rocks, snow, flowers, marble, granite, wood, doors...So, be careful ! You can try using a door or a chair but it isn't real!Or disturb a snake thinking it's fake, but it isn't!
Welcome to the amazing world of fantasy!

God bless those cave men! They started all!

Faux finishing came from a French expression: ''Fake'' finish. Faux finish means: reproduce, change or adapt ( patinas ) color, and texture ( visual identity ) into a similar surface or a different one.
The first faux ( patina ) was found inside a cave. Today we have it in our homes, businesses, and in many other places. We can see faux on walls, floors, furniture, cars, object, and , also our hair and skin. Faux finishes can also be seen in theme parks and movies.
